The incredible architectural details and fantastic art of this national treasure are truly impressive. From Nidaros Cathedral, the bus takes you directly to another cultural gem – the Ringve Museum of Musical History. This handsome manor museum was the childhood home of Norwegian naval hero Petter Wessel Tordenskiold and it is surrounded by an idyllic botanical garden offering beautiful views of Trondheim and the fjord.

5A: The Arctic Capital Tromso, 2.5 hrs

All year

Tromsø occupies a unique position between the sea and imposing mountains. It is often referred to as the gateway to the Arctic Sea and the Arctic, not least owing to its historic links to polar research and expeditions that have set out from Tromsø.
First we will be visiting the Polar Centre - a visitor centre about the Arctic. The building resembles huge blocks of ice that have been thrown ashore from the mighty ocean, and is filled with icy landscapes, arctic nature, the flora and fauna of Svalbard, ice, snow, seals and the Northern Lights.
The Arctic Sea also dominates the architecture - we will be visiting the Arctic Cathedral, which is Tromsø's largest attraction. The building rises some 40 meters into the air like a mountain of ice and the whole of its eastern wall consists of an enormous glass mosaic.

5B: Dog Sledding Tromso, 3 hrs

01.11-30.04

We will get you as close to the North Norwegian winter as possible. After a short drive to Kvaløya island near Tromsø we will be changing into warmer clothes, shoes, gloves and hats. Outside the huskies are harnessed to the sled, eagerly waiting to transport us over the frozen landscape of sea and open plains.
In the dark period of the winter we are all equipped with head lamps, which creates a magical atmosphere in the sled as the dogs run almost silently across the snow.
At the end of the trip we crawl into a cozy lavvo (Sami tent) where we will be served coffee and cakes around the open fire. Good shoes and warm clothes required

6A: The North Cape - Honningsvag, 3.5 hrs

Join us on an excursion north of 71º latitude, visit a lavvo (a traditional Sami tent), see reindeer grazing on the way and look forward to panoramic views from the North Cape plateau which rises a sheer 307 meters from the sea. In the North Cape Hall, we watch Ivo Caprino’s superb wide-screen film about the Cape and the county of Finnmark. There is also a souvenir shop, post office, café, a tunnel in which his historical tableaux are displayed and an ecumenical chapel.

From the boat you can observe flocks of kittiwakes and Finnmark county’s largest population of puffins. You might also catch a glimpse of a majestic sea eagle. Good shoes and warm clothes required

7A: The Russian border - Kirkenes, 1.5 hrs

All year

The trip goes up the Pasvik River (a return journey of 14 km). The guides on board provide us with information about the cultural history of the Pasvik River and the surrounding countryside. En route we will stop briefly at Tri fonhula (the Trifoncave) and Kjerringstupet (the old woman’s cliff). When we reach the border we can either sit outside, or go inside the barbecue hut or a traditional Sami tent and look out towards the Russian orthodox church in Boris Gleb, the Norwegian and Russian military watch towers and the Russian settlement. A short guided tour of the site will take place, followed by a simple meal during which we will become acquainted with Russian music.

7B: River boat Safari-Russian border, 2.5 hrs

01.06 - 30.09

The river boats are ready and are waiting to take us up Pasvikelva - a river with a cultural history dating back thousands of years, which the guides will reveal along the way. Hear about the history of the Sami, the sacred princes Boris and Gled, St. Trifon of the Pechenga Monastery, and see the rich animal and plant life in the area. Reindeer, fish and the occasional wandering bear make this one of the most exciting wilderness areas in Norway. At the border we go ashore and learn a little bit more about Norway’s relationship with its neighbor to the east, and will be served coffee/tea, cloudberries with cream and live Russian music. Join us on the river and experience unique history, beautiful scenery and a rich array of animal life.

7C: Snow Mobile Safari -  Kirkenes, 2.5 hrs

15.12-05.05

Join us in a winter experience with a difference.  Try driving a snowmobile and learn how to throw a lasso. Transport is organized to and from Sandnes, where we change into warm clothing.  After warming up by going chair sledging, it is time to try throwing a lasso.  Don't worry, the reindeer "Stolulf" is made of wood, hide and horn and won't run away from us.  We will be provided with an introduction on how to handle and drive a snowmobile in a safe and secure manner, before setting off with two people on each snowmobile.  After this "high-speed" experience we can warm ourselves in the traditional Sami tent, where we will be served hot coffee and dried reindeer meat. Drivers license required if you prefer to drive the snow mobile. Make sure to wear warm winter shoes and warm clothes.
