An unforgettable cruise from the rugged Arctic wilderness of Northern Norway to the magnificent fjords of the west coast. You will among others visit the North Cape, Vesteralen & Lofoten Islands as well as Trondheim. From Bergen continue by coach to Stavanger for another highlight: the Lysefjord.

This tour is flexible and you may add nights and/or exciting excursions to the trip.

DAY 1 – First night in Oslo

Individual arrival to Oslo. Check in at the centrally located Hotel Bristol, close to the Karl Johansgate main street. You can take the airport bus directly to the hotel.
Oslo is beautifully located by the Oslo fjord, surrounded by forested hills and an extensive waterfront. Here you will find the Aker Brygge & Tjuvholmen pedestrain areas.

DAY 2 – Flight to Kirkenes

A morning flight to the Arctic town of Kirkenes, located close to the Russian border. Kirkenes has a close relationship with their Russian neighbours, and a particular feature of this Arctic town is that the street signs are both in Norwegian & Russian!

The snowhotel is open all year, and you can now experience this winter wonderland even in summer. Stay overnight in a beautiful snow suite with art made of ice and snow. You will also join a 3 hours king crab fishing trip by RIB boat! Cruise along the fjord to the catching area, where you join in lifting the big gages with King Crabs. Then on to a renovated boat house by the fjord, to be served a king crab meal.

DAY 3 – Cruise departure

Embark your Hurtigruten ship after breakfast. The ship leaves Kirkenes around midday. Enjoy lunch followed by views of the surrounding Arctic landscape on deck or from the panorama lounge.
In the afternoon the ship docks in Vardo, Norway’s easternmost town, with the enchanting Vardohus Fortress. Continue along the Varanger peninsula before a late evening call at Batsfjord.

DAY 4 – Breakfast at North Cape *

Imagine having breakfast at the top of Europe! You will enjoy breakfast and more on this scenic coach tour from the town of Honningsvag to the North Cape. The mighty plateau rises 307 m above the Arctic Ocean, and marks the end point of the European mainland.
The scenery is breathtaking with the cliff coast that plunges down into the endless sea, treeless plains and picturesque fishing villages. You will rejoin the ship in Hammerfest. In the late evening the ship arrives in Tromso.

DAY 5 – Vesteralen, Trollfjord & Lofoten Islands

Arrival to Harstad in the morning. Join an excursion to get to know the Vesteralen Islands. Experience history, beautiful scenery and a selection of breathtaking sites that includes a visit to Trondenes Church, one of Norway’s premier cultural heritage sites from the late Middle Ages.
You will rejoin the ship in Sortland. Continuing southwards, you will experience the narrow Raftsund strait. This 20-km passage between Lofoten and Vesteralen takes you through mountains soaring 1000 m directly out of the sea.

Cruise into Trollfjord by Agurtxane Concellon, Hurtigruten

Spectacular Trollfjord

Trollfjord: Now the ship reaches the Trollfjord, only 2 km long and 100 m wide, surrounded by majestic mountains. If the weather and time permit – the captain makes a detour into the fjord.
Steep cliffs hug the ship’s sides and the dramatic landscape conjures fairy tale images of an imaginary land of trolls. Trollfjord is also the realm of the sea eagle.
The Hurtigruten ship turns around in the narrow fjord, a magnificent sight in its own right! The ship docks in Svolvaer and Stamsund on the Lofoten Islands later in the evening.

DAY 6 – Magical Helgeland coast

The Arctic Circle: Today you will cross the Arctic Circle at 66°33’N. As you sail along the Helgeland coast you pass hundreds of islets, fertile farmland and steep granite walls rich in local lore.
Another highlight is sailing past the Seven Sisters mountain range. The UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Vega Islands is close to Sandnessjoen and can be visited on an optional excursion during summer.
The ship will normally pass the strange mountain Torghatten from a distance. Torghatten is famous for its distinctive hole right through the middle.

DAY 7 – Trondheim, Molde & Alesund

The tiny historic island of Munkholmen leads the way to the historic town of Trondheim, with picturesque areas of tiny, wooden houses (Bakklandet) and the medieval Nidaros Cathedral. Join a sightseeing tour of Trondheim.
Back on the ship you will pass by the beautiful island of Hitra and the open sea of Hustadvika before approaching the towns of Molde & Alesund towards midnight.

DAY 8 – Arrival in Bergen

Magnificent West Norway scenery with mouths of fjords and a lush, beautiful archipelago, including the island kingdom of Oygarden, before the ship approaches Bergen. Arrival to Bergen at 14:30. Check in at a centrally located 4* hotel.

DAY 9 – Bergen to Stavanger

Morning at your own disposal in Bergen. Visit the UNESCO Bryggen wharf, take the Funicular to Mount Floyen with a marvellous view of the city below. In the early afternoon travel by coach to Stavanger.
Relax on board the coach and enjoy the view of glittering fjords, snow-capped peaks and idyllic small farms along the way. You will also cross the Bjornafjord by ferry. Arrival to Stavanger in the evening.

DAY 10 – Cruise to Lysefjord

Experience the famous Pulpit Rock from the fjord! On this tour, you will be taken on a refreshing fjord cruise to the Lysefjord. The Lysefjord offers waterfalls, idyllic islands and stunning nature.
Discover the “mysterious” Vagabonds’ Cave, the goats and get a taste of the fresh mountain water from the Hengjane Waterfall. And last but not least, see the world famous Pulpit Rock high above the fjord.

This guided trip will take you on one of Norway’s most popular and spectacular hikes. Situated only a few hours from Stavanger, the Pulpit Rock – or “Preikestolen” in Norwegian – is a towering cliff-plateau directly suspended over the Lysefjord. The top offers unobstructed views over the meandering blue fjord.

DAY 11 – Stavanger to Oslo

Flight to Oslo. Spend the rest of the day exploring the Norwegian Capital on your own. Visit the iconic Opera House, the spectacular Vigeland Sculpture Park, the Viking Ship Museum, the Holmenkollen Ski Jump.
Enjoy the extensive waterfront of Oslo with the vibrant Aker Brygge & Tjuvholmen pedestrian areas & the spectacular wooden Astrup Fearnley Museum.
