Northern Lights Cruise & Snow Hotel

DAY 1

First night in Oslo

Individual arrival to a centrally located hotel. The centre of Oslo is located 20 mins from the airport by the frequent airport express train.
In Oslo you can visit the iconic Opera House, the spectacular Vigeland Sculpture Park, the Viking Ship Museum (closed for renovation until 2027 – artefacts from the Viking Age can be seen at The Historic Museum in the city centre), the Holmenkollen Ski Jump.
Enjoy the extensive waterfront of Oslo with the vibrant Aker Brygge & Tjuvholmen pedestrian areas & the spectacular wooden Astrup Fearnley Museum.

DAY 2

Travel to Tromsø

A 2-hour flight to Tromsø, followed by individual arrival to a centrally located hotel, easily accessible by the airport bus. Tromsø is beautifully located, surrounded by spectacular Arctic islands & alpine mountain peaks.

Snowmobiling & Northern Lights

Experience the thrill of snowmobiling in the evening through remote wilderness. You will be picked up in the city centre for a 90-minute bus transfer to the Tamok Valley.
After completing thorough safety instructions on how to drive a snowmobile, you will follow the tour guide through snowy trails. 2 persons will share one snowmobile with the opportunity to swap places halfway.
This tour does not focus on chasing the Northern Lights, but as you will venture into total darkness, you might get lucky and witness the marvellous phenomena dancing across the sky (weather permitting).
Upon returning to camp, you will enjoy a hot meal and drinks around an open fire in a traditional lavvu (Sami tent). Here you can relax and share stories from your recent adventure before the transfer back to the city centre.
During peak season the group may be split in two where one will start with a hot meal before the snowmobiling tour.

Included: Transfers, English speaking guide, thermal suit, boots, mittens, balaclava and helmet, hot meal & drinks.
What to bring: Valid driver’s license (Class B), shoes, warm winter clothing and a scarf (special clothing will be provided). Dress in layers so you can adjust your clothing to the weather.
Resrictions:
• You need to be minimum 18 years old and hold a valid driver’s license to operate a snowmobile.
• Passengers needs to be minimum 7 years old. Each child must be accompanied by an adult.
• Drivers and passengers must be minimum 130cm in height to meet the safety requirements.
• Pregnant people are not allowed to participate on this tour.

DAY 3

Cruise departure

Time to see Tromsø before you board the Hurtigruten or Havila Voyages ship in the early evening for the Northern Lights cruise to the Arctic town of Kirkenes.

DAY 4

North Cape excursion

Cruise along stunning Arctic scenery to the main port of Honningsvåg, where you join the exotic North Cape excursion by coach across Magerøya island – Norway’s northernmost island, normally covered by snow during the winter months.
Then on to the North Cap cliff – an impressive, 307 m (1007 ft) high cliff with a large flat plateau on top.

DAY 5

Cruise finish  & adventures in Kirkenes

After breakfast you disembark in Arctic Kirkenes, located in the middle of the Northern Lights zone.
Kirkenes is located close to the Russian border, and has always had a close relationship with their Russian neighbours – the street names in Kirkenes are both in Norwegian & in Russian!

King Crab Safari

A totally unforgettable experience awaits you on the frozen, Arctic fjords of Kirkenes – with excellent king crab fishing facilities; there will always be a catch!
This is your chance to learn how to catch, cook, and most importantly, taste this mysterious creature.

Dog sledding experience

Join an adventurous dog sledding trip in the afternoon. 2 persons will share a sled driven by a professional musher. The tour goes in scenic surroundings along the fjord and through classic Arctic, lightly forested wilderness.

Included: Transfers, warm clothes, professional musher
What to bring: Comfortable shoes, warm and windproof clothing (special clothing will be provided)
Age restrictions: Min. 7 years old and accompanied by an adult
Difficulty level: Average physical condition – involves physical activity on uneven surface and/or steep terrain. Not suitable if you have limited mobility.

Overnight in the Snow hotel

Enjoy an Arctic dinner in the Snow hotel restaurant & an unforgettable overnight stay in the exotic Snow hotel – a beautiful piece of architecture with ice sculptures, located next to the warm & comfortable service building with lounges.
You will be given thorough instructions for the stay in the snow hotel.
Visit the tiny reindeer park and take part in the feeding of the reindeer.

DAY 6

Travel to Oslo & final night

After breakfast at the Snow hotel you join the transfer bus to the airport in Kirkenes (approx. 20 mins).
A 2-hour flight to Oslo, followed by individual travel to the centre of Oslo for an overnight stay.
Spend 1 night in Oslo (included in the tour price)

The trip finishes after breakfast on day 7.
