This compact coastal city has quietly become one of Europe's most exciting urban art destinations, thanks to two decades of the groundbreaking NuArt Festival. From massive murals by international legends to hidden gems in narrow alleys, every corner tells a story through spray paint and stencils. Your expert local guide will decode the graffiti and street art that transformed industrial walls into Norway's most unexpected outdoor gallery. This 3-day Stavanger art tour is a deep dive into the alternative art scene that made this city famous among those in the know. You'll explore the permanent collection of street art in Stavanger, hear the stories behind controversial pieces, and understand how a conservative oil town became Norway's creative rebel. With options to add a silent Lysefjord cruise or a three-Michelin-star dinner, you can mix high culture with street culture exactly how you like it. This underground art scene won´t stay underground forever. See it before it becomes mainstream! Book now Stavanger – A perfect blend of city pulse and coastal calm. Photo by Bob Engelsen. Welcome to Norway's street art capital Welcome to Norway's Street Art Capital Check into your perfectly located hotel, just steps from both the Stavanger city centre and the best urban art spots. Once you've dropped your bags, take a stroll through the harbour area where the street art scene begins to reveal itself. Wander into Gamle Stavanger's white wooden houses – they've been standing since the 1700s, making them the perfect contrast to the modern graffiti art you'll discover tomorrow. Feeling fancy? Request a table at RE-NAA, one of only 148 three-Michelin-star restaurants worldwide, during checkout. Chef Sven Erik Renaa's seafood tasting menu is legendary, but tables are extremely limited. We'll confirm availability with the restaurant and send you a payment link once your reservation is secured. Check our calendar for dates when the restaurant is fully booked or closed. Photo by Eivind Senneseth The Lysefjord is a big part of what makes Stavanger unique. Add a fjord cruise to experience its dramatic nature up close. Photo by Bob Engelsen. Exploring Stavanger's urban art legacy After fuelling up at breakfast, meet your street-smart guide for a 2-hour guided street art walking tour. This isn't some tourist tick-box exercise – your guide actually knows these artists and the drama behind each piece. You'll discover how the NuArt Festival turned Stavanger from oil capital to Norway's street art destination, with works by legends like Dolk, DotDotDot, and Sandra Chevrier decorating everything from parking garages to apartment blocks. Want to balance urban grit with natural beauty? Smart move. Add that silent Lysefjord cruise at checkout for the evening. Electric engines mean pure silence as you glide past 600-meter cliffs and Preikestolen (that's Pulpit Rock for the uninitiated). The contrast between morning street art tours and afternoon fjord zen? Last call for art hunters Your final morning is yours to hunt down any street art in Stavanger you might have missed. The best pieces often hide in unexpected places – behind that café, down that sketchy-looking alley, on that random electrical box. Keep your camera ready because the Stavanger art scene loves surprising people who pay attention. Still haven't done the fjords? There's time! Grab that silent Lysefjord cruise option at checkout. Nothing says "I've mastered the art of travel" like floating silently beneath Preikestolen while everyone else is fighting for selfie spots up top.
