Travel tips for the Kirkenes Snow Hotel

Climate in Kirkenes:

Located by a fjord branch of the Barents sea, quite far from the coast, it has more of a drier inland climate rather than a humid sea climate. This is perfect for the Northern Lights, requiring a more or less clear sky.
The winters are normally cold throughout the season, with snow from December to April, or even longer, making Kirkenes the perfect location for a snow hotel. The entire hotel melts down during the summer months.

About Kirkenes:

Kirkenes is located a 2 hour flight from Oslo, Norway’s capital, about as far northeast as you can get in Norway, not far from the Russian border. The airport is a 15 minutes drive by taxi or by the airport bus from the centre of Kirkenes; the airport bus stops at the hotels.

OUR SNOW HOTEL TRIPS:

We have put together a selection of travel packages including a stay at the amazing Snow Hotel, all of them starting and finishing with an overnight stay in Oslo, convenient for your international flight to Norway. You can choose to stay overnight at an airport hotel instead of  in the centre of Oslo if that is more convenient for you – at the start or at the end of the trip, or both.
