This privacy information applies to the processing of personal data carried out by Fjord Travel Norway (Fjord Travel Norway /we/us) when you travel with us, use our services, visit our websites or otherwise interact with us. It is important for us to use your data only in accordance with applicable data protection legislation and your expectations, and to be transparent with you in how we use your data. This privacy information will explain what data is collected, why it is collected, how the collected data is used and your options and rights regarding the collection of your personal data.


The data that we process is collected directly from you, e.g. when you make a booking on our website, by phone, e-mail or via a contact form. The collection is based on consent, or as part of the fulfilment of the contractual obligations we conclude when booking travel and other products by us.


We receive and store any information you enter on our website or give us in any other way. In connection with the different ways we may interact with you and the services that we provide, we may collect the following categories of data:

  1. A) Main traveller

We collect the following information about the main traveller (the person who books and pays for the trip): name, address, mobile number, e-mail address, date of birth, gender and nationality. In connection with booking, we also collect the payment information (Payment data provided to Fjord Travel Norway is processed via encrypted, secure transmission)for the main traveller.

  1. B) Travel companion

If there are several people in the travel party (including children), we collect the following information about them: name, nationality, date of birth and gender.

  1. C) Health Data & Special Requirements

If the main traveller or others in the travelling party have special needs in connection with disability, allergies or illnesses, this is recorded in the booking to provide possible assistance if required.

  1. D) Booking data and activity data

including data related to your booked trip, flight reservations, bus and train transportation arrangements, hotel bookings, itinerary, travel companions, the activities you have participated in while travelling with us etc.

  1. E) Communication data

between you and us, including e-mail communication, comments and reviews collected through surveys or posted on our channels and on social media platforms.

  1. F) Digital information data

collected when you visit our websites or other digital platforms, including IP-addresses, browser data and traffic data. All visitors to our website are registered anonymously for the purpose of creating a better user experience on our website. For measuring website traffic, we use cookies and scripts from Google Analytics.



We process your personal data for the following reasons:

  1. A) Booking & Travel Administration

We use your data to arrange, process and confirm bookings for you. We collect your date of birth, nationality because of an obligation to provide such data to authorities and our providers. In addition, information regarding health, disabilities, illnesses or dietary restrictions may be provided so that they are considered during your trip with us.

Administration of your trip also includes the use of your data for accounting, settlement and audit.

  1. B) Communication

We use contact information and communication data to provide you with relevant information related to your trip. This includes information related to departure times, cancellations and other travel related information. We may provide such information by electronic or other means.

We use such data to provide important information about your trip that is necessary to fulfil our contract with you (to organise your travel). Further, we use such data to provide you with other information necessary to fulfil our legitimate interests, including to ensure that your travels are as comfortable and smooth as possible.

  1. C) Communication with our booking department

If you contact our booking department by e-mail or phone we use your personal data to provide you with the best possible service and to answer questions or address complaints. We use your name and booking number to identify you and your trip. We use your contact information, such as e-mail address and phone number, to contact you in connection with questions and inquiries.

  1. D) Statistics and Analysis

We use anonymised data to generate statistics and analysis via Google Analytics.


In order for us to administrate your trip, we may need to disclose your data to our suppliers, cooperation partners or authorities. Your personal data is only used for other purposes or disclosed to a third party with your permission or when it is necessary for us to fulfil the contractual obligations we have to you. Fjord Travel does not sell personal data to others.

We may for instance use a service provider to perform technical services, administrative services, or other services on our behalf, and share your data with the appropriate service provider. Examples of such providers are hotels (when booking of travel package), Screentek (booking system) and authorities such as port authorities.

We use NETS as secure on-line payment provider. Nets supplies payment, card and information solutions in the Nordic countries, and it has a secure electronic payment solution. Nets ensures that all card information is stored securely and in accordance with the card companies’ rules. Payment data provided to Fjord Travel Norway is processed via encrypted, secure transmission.

We may disclose communication data and contact information to our cooperation partners, as they may need this information to communicate with you and to provide support and assistance.


We will only store your data for as long as it is necessary to fulfil the purpose of the processing of your data. We will store your data from the point in time when you placed a booking request until your voyage is completed.

We will store transaction data (payment information) as required by applicable law, such as bookkeeping legislation.

If you have consented to receiving information about trips, we will store your contact data and communication data for as long as you wish to receive such information.


Fjord Travel Norway uses several forms of security to protect personal data against unauthorised access, use or transfer. For example, we store the personal data you provide in data centres with physical security and access control. We use well-known encryption technologies in connection with data transfer, and we only provide relevant staff access to systems containing personal data. As a part of our safety work, we also test our security mechanisms on a regular basis.


If any part of our website links you to other websites, those websites may not operate under this privacy policy. We recommend you examine the privacy statements posted on those other websites to understand their procedures for collecting, using, and disclosing personal information. This may also be the case when any part of our website uses social plug-ins from other sites such as Facebook. Plug-ins such as Facebook’s “Like” button, “Comments” and “Facebook Connect”, can be identified by one of Facebook’s logos, such as the “f” or “thumbs-up” icon, and in practice are like a little piece of Facebook embedded on our website.

You may contact us at any time if you wish to receive access to or rectify your data. Further, you may request a copy of the data that we have collected from you.

You may ask us to erase data that we have collected from you. We must however keep data as necessary to fulfil our agreement with you and as necessary to comply with law or on request from authorities.
