Outside the Lofotr Viking Museum

During the bus ride from Stamsund to Borg and the Lofotr Viking Museum, you will be introduced to the Viking Age and learn more about the museum and how the Vikings lived. After this you should be prepared to spend an evening with the Vikings.

At the Lofotr Viking Museum, you will find the largest house found from the Viking Age.  A full scale reconstruction of the house, 83 metres long and 9 metres high is built at Borg. Here, in the great hall of the Viking chieftain, you will be welcomed to the Viking banquet. Finds from the Viking Age are on exhibition in the house, and it is decorated for a feast. Meet Vikings in traditional costumes! There will be singing and dancing and you will be served in true Viking style.

For dinner, there will be lamb, vegetables, barley groats, cranberries, Viking bread, sour cream and butter. The Viking drink mead will be served with the food.

After a hearty banquet, the bus returns to Svolvær. Learn more about Lofoten’s history on the tour, while enjoying Lofoten’s magnificent landscape. Remember that it is dark for large parts of the winter, but if we are lucky we can enjoy the winter landscape under starry skies and moonlight.

We were very impressed by the Hurtigruten cruise, particularly the way they combined a working ship with a cruise ship, the comfortable accommodations, the food and service. It was fascinating to visit all the various ports, islands and fjords and the two included tours were excellent and informative. In the end we were glad to have the extra night in Kirkenes, to visit their lovely museum and take a trip to the Russian border. It was a good way to end the tour. Again, thank for staying with us through 2 years of pandemic postponements and changes. We certainly will recommend Fjord Travel in the future.
