Top of Europe Aurora adventure – A really exotic Northern Lights trip taking you to the Arctic town of Tromso – Norway’s Northern Lights capital, followed by a Northern Lights cruise around the remote, northernmost coast of Norway & Europe, with excursion to the impressive North Cape cliff. The cruise finishes in the Arctic town of Kirkenes; a tiny, authentic Arctic town with no mass tourism and a perfect location for chasing the Northern Lights.

In Kirkenes you will join an amazing King crab fishing trip with the most delicious King crab meal, followed by an overnight stay in your own, tiny, picturesque wooden Aurora Gamme chalet. The trip starts & finishes with stay in Oslo. Available from October through March
This is an individual/unescorted trip (you do not travel with a group)

DAY 1 – First night in Oslo
Individual arrival to Oslo. Check in at the Park Inn airport hotel at Gardermoen, conveniently located within walking distance of the airport. The centre of Oslo is located 20 mins from the airport by the frequent Airport Express train

DAY 2 – Flight to Tromso
A 2 hour flight to Tromso.  Individual arrival to a centrally located hotel, easily accessible by the Airport bus. Tromso is beautifully located, surrounded by spectacular Arctic islands & Alpine mountain peaks.

Arctic Gourmet Dinner
In the evening we have included dinner at Emma’s famous, tiny gourmet restaurant in the centre of Tromso – a really exceptional restaurant! Enjoy a 5 courses gourmet dinner based on excellent local produce. Welcome drink included.

The restaurant is located within easy walking distance of your hotel, with view towards the wooden Tromso cathedral (domkirke)

DAY 3 – Cruise departure
Time to see Tromso before you board the Hurtigruten ship in the early evening; an exceptional Aurora cruise to the top of Europe, finishing in the Arctic town of Kirkenes.

Experience the spectacular North Cape cliff!

DAY 4 – North Cape 
Cruise along stunning Arctic scenery to the main port of Honningsvag, where you join the exotic North Cape excursion by coach across Mageroya island – Norway’s northernmost island, normally covered by snow during the winter months.
Then on to the North Cape cliff – an impressive, 307-metre (1,007 ft) high cliff with a large flat plateau on top

Northern Lights – one of nature’s wonders!

DAY 5 – Arrival to Kirkenes
After breakfast you disembark in Arctic Kirkenes, located in the middle of the Northern Lights zone.
Kirkenes is located close to the Russian border. Ever since the Russians came to their rescue by the end of World war II, the town has had a close relationship with their Russian neighbors – the street names in Kirkenes are both in Norwegian & in Russian!

Transfer from the pier to the Kirkenes Snow hotel & Gamme, where you will have time to relax before the King Crab fishing. They will take care of your luggage and provide you with warm, appropriate clothing, then the adventure can begin!
The town of Kirkenes is located by an Arctic fjord with excellent King crab fishing facilities – there will always be a catch!

After the fishing you will enjoy the most wonderful King crab meal in authentic, Arctic surroundings!

What to bring: Comfortable shoes, warm and windproof clothing (special clothing will be provided).
Age restrictions: Min. 7 years old and accompanied by an adult.
Difficulty level: Average physical condition – involves physical activity on uneven surface and/or steep terrain. Not suitable if you have limited mobility.

Aurora Gamme chalet stay
After the King crab meal you will be transferred to your tiny, exotic & comfortable Aurora Gamme chalet. The chalet is entirely made of wood, with private bathroom and a wonderful bay window offering the most perfect conditions for viewing the Northern lights when the sky is clear.

Kirkenes area – no city lights!

The chalet is located outside the lights of Kirkenes, in a wilderness area by a narrow fjord, next to Kirkenes Snow hotel (open from Dec 20) & the service building with restaurant, lounges & sauna.
Away from the city lights you will be able to see the most wonderful, starry sky, the blue Arctic twilight & the Northern Lights by clear weather.
You can visit the tiny Reindeer park close by, before the Arctic dinner in the restaurant.

DAY 6 – Oslo & final night
After breakfast you join the transfer bus back to the centre of Kirkenes, where you can take the scheduled airport bus or a taxi to the airport (appr 15 min).
Overnight in the centre of Oslo, or at an airport hotel at your choice
