Norway rail trips: The Rauma line
The Rauma line – A spectacular rail trip passing along the scenic Rauma river, across amazing bridges, through a horseshoe tunnel and along the Troll wall; a part of the mountain massif “Troll Peaks” in the Romsdal valley.
The Troll Wall is the tallest vertical rock face in Europe, about 1100 meters from its base to the summit of its highest point. At its steepest, the summit ridge overhangs the base of the wall by nearly 50 meters.

The Rauma line is a side line off the main Dovre line, taking you from the Dombas mountain station in the Gudbrandsdal valley to the beautifully located fjord village of Andalsnes. The train normally makes photo stops en route.
It’s an excellent idea to include the spectaular Rauma line if you plan to visit other amazing attractions, such as the Geirangerfjord & the picturesque Art Nouveau town of Alesund. The line is also an ideal connection for a trip across the Golden Route mountain roads, with the Eagles road & the Trollstigen hairpin road.
