Sami Storytelling

In the evening join a Sami storyteller in a lavvu (Sami herdman’s tent) to listen to the stories born during thousands of years of nomadic lifestyle. Learn about the history, culture and old beliefs of the Sami people in the glow of an open fire.
Listen to the traditional joik (chanting) as you enjoy a taste of the most delicious Sami delicacy cooked over the fire. You will then have a chance to visit and feed the reindeer near the lavvu.

DAY 4 –  Snowy forests on ski & Northern Lights Watch
Morning on your own. After lunch join a guide for a cross-country ski experience. Skiing has a special place in the hearts of the Norwegian people. Over the years, skiing has moved from being a means of transportation to pure fun. You will start from the very basics and go for a short skiing trip through the snowy forests. Prepare to slide, fall down to the soft snow and laugh!  A light snack is included.

Northern Light Watch by Malangen Resort

Northern Light Watch at Camp Nikka

After dinner it is time to join the Northern Lights watching activity. Knowledgeable guides will first brief you on this natural phenomenon, then you will set off to Camp Nikka, just a 10-15 minutes walk away to a secluded area by a frozen lake, with 3 lavvus to keep you warm and sheltered while keeping watch for the Aurora.
The guides at Malangen will continue the Northern Light chase long after you fall asleep. If they spot the elusive light dancing in the night sky while you’re sleeping, you can opt to be woken during the night with an aurora alarm, so you can capture even more of the magical show.
