As the ship sails into the Hjørundfjord, you’ll board a tender boat taking you to the village of Urke. Continuing by coach, you will explore the narrow Norangsdalen valley, and visit sights like Lyngstølvatnet Lake and the historic Hotel Union Øye.
Lyngstølsvatnet is a popular diving site because of the well-preserved ruins of an old farmstead, and on clear days you can also see them from above the water.
Hotel Union Øye has since the opening in 1891 been a place where the world’s elite came to enjoy the finer things in life and the incredible nature that surrounds the hotel. The former composer Edvard Grieg, the German emperor Wilhelm II and Princess Victoria are some of the guests that the hotel has named its rooms after.
The tour ends back in Urke, where you’ll get to taste the local pancake “svele” with coffee. You can also explore the local general store, where you can buy everything from food, petrol to souvenirs.
