DAY TO DAY ITINERARY:
DAY 1 – First night in Oslo
Individual arrival to Oslo. Check in at the centrally located Hotel Bristol, close to the Karl Johansgate main street. You can take the airport bus directly to the hotel.
DAY 2 – Train to Roros
Leave Oslo by train to Roros. Roros is one of the few mining towns in the world to have a place on the UNESCO world heritage list. Check in at the centrally located Roros Hotel, a short taxi ride from the train station. The hotel is situated only a few minute’s walk from the town centre. Time to explore the historic copper-mining town (once called Bergstad, or mountain city) which has wonderfully preserved, colourful wooden houses that climb the hillside, as well as fascinating relics of the town’s mining past.
DAY 3 – Train to Trondheim
Morning in Roros. In the afternoon travel by train to Trondheim. With its colourful warehouses, waterways and wooded hills, Norway’s third-largest city is without doubt one of its most photogenic. Trondheim, the country’s historic capital, is a pleasure to explore, with wide streets and a partly pedestrianised heart. Make sure to visit the authentic areas with tiny well preserved wooden houses at Bakklandet, the old bridge “Gamle Bybro” & the Nidaros Cathedral.
Overnight in Trondheim.

DAY 5 – Alesund
Full day to explore Alesund. The city has around 50 000 inhabitants and is one of the most important fishing harbours in Norway. In the city centre you can visit shops, galleries and restaurants or just stroll around in the beautiful city. After a devastating fire in 1904 which destroyed most of the old wooden buildings, the town was completely rebuilt. As a result, Alesund’s architecture has a unique concentration of Art Nouveau – Jugendstyle.
If you want to explore more of Fjord Norway you can add a fjord cruise to Hjorundfjord.
DAY 6 – Cruise to Geirangerfjord & Geiranger
Travel by boat to Geiranger. This beautiful journey from Alesund to Geiranger is around 120 km long. Take a closer look at the famous waterfalls “The Seven Sisters”, “The Bridal Veil” and “The Suitor”, the majestic fjord cliffs and abandoned mountain farms. Perhaps you will be lucky enough to see porpoises playing in the fjord. Check in at Union Hotel Geiranger, a family-run hotel that is situated on a hill just above Geiranger, with a fantastic view of the fjords and mountains.
DAY 7 – Geiranger
Spend the whole day at leisure in Geiranger. The Geirangerfjord is the jewel in the crown of the Norwegian fjords. It is a fairytale landscape with its majestic, snow-covered mountain tops, wild and beautiful waterfalls, lush green vegetation and the deep, blue fjord.
You can also add exciting trips to your stay in Geiranger, like fjord sightseeing by RIB boat or a kayak trip.
DAY 8 – Back to Alesund
Morning at leisure in Geiranger. Maybe you want to visit the Norwegian Fjord Center. The information centre provides basic information about the Geirangerfjord World Heritage Site. Beginning with the life and work of the fjord folk, you will learn about the unique and rich history, the colourful people and the fabulous natural scenery of the area.
Leave Geiranger by boat in the afternoon. Arrival to Alesund in the evening. Spend 1 more night in Alesund.
